Southsea Skatepark Visit With Stephen Morgan MP

Stephen Morgan MP Visits with Southsea Skatepark Trustees

Today we had Portsmouth South MP Stephen Morgan visit Southsea Skatepark to find out from trustees Sam, Bernie and Paul about what the charity has working on, learn about the incredible talent success stories and discuss developments with our roof project. Stephen is the skatepark’s local MP and it is really important to us to reach out and bring the broader community together and nurture support, both for the charity’s aims and our longer term goals.

It was great to bring to life to Stephen of the different phases of heritage the skatepark has as not just England’s first council skatepark, but also it’s pre-1978 skateboarding history as a rollerskating rink back to the 1940s and it’s music bandstand going back to the 1920s. As well as looking back we also looked forward, discussing the upcoming huge repair work plan we have thanks to CiL funding (more info on that soon) plus our plans for events and much more.
We are a volunteer led charity run community skatepark, please get in touch if you too want to get involved.
